The Association's Management Committee recently approved its 2014-2017 Strategic Plan. The plan is the result of lengthy consultation with key members, which establishes a clear direction for the Association over the next 3 years. Core aims are growth in membership, representation of member interests and buidling our profile within a complex construction industry environment. In developing this plan we learn a considerable amount about the concrete pumping industry, for example:
There are approximately 1,300 concrete pumping related businesses operating across Australia responsible for providing time critical, dependable and safe concrete placing ability to both major and minor infrastructure. The industry employs some 12,000 people operating invested capital of $3.5 billion to deliver various materials (e.g. pre-mixed concrete) using a safe, reliable and efficient method each year. In Australia, the concrete pumping industry contributes approximately $1.5 billion of revenue into the economy and is an integral part of the construction materials industry contributing of $12 billion to GDP.
The plan has established three key goals for the Association over the next 3 years:
- Financial and Organisation Sustainability
- Building our Profile and Positioning
- Membership Growth and Benefits
Each goal has been evaluated in terms of the projects (actions) that need to be undertaken to ensure that the goals of growth and effective representation are met. Some of these key projects include:
- Design and development of new Association website including modern e-commerce to facilitate online orders and membership process
- Regular communication with members through website, e-blasts, e-newsletter and general publications
- Implementation of our Membership Growth Plan
- Commence development of National Concrete Pumping Industry Guidelines
The Strategic Plan for the CPAA provides a clear pathway to unite and focus the Association with goals that aim to serve member and wider industry interests. As these projects begin to get underway it will become clear to industry stakeholders that the Association is once again open for business!
