Victorian Registration Requirements for Concrete Pumps

01-07-2014

From 1 July 2014, new Occupational Health and Safety Amendment Regulations 2014 came into effect in Victoria. These regulations introduced a new duty that requires the design of all new truck mounted concrete placing booms to be registered with WorkSafe Victoria.

WorkSafe Victoria has clarified that the new duty applies only to pumps designed on or after 1 July 2014.

If your pump was manufactured prior to 1 July 2014, you are not required to have your design registered.

To understand when the design of a concrete pump was dated, pump owners should make reasonable enquiries with the supplier and / or, where feasible, the manufacturer.

Concrete pump owners should also note that the Victorian amending regulations removed the requirement for individual items of plant to be registered with the Authority. This means that owners no longer need to register each truck mounted concrete pump unit with the Authority.

As new designs come into manufacture the Association will seek further clarification from VWA so we can assist effected members.
