Worksafe VIC: Concrete Safety Initiative getting active

04-02-2015

The newly formed Concrete Safety Initiative of Victoria (CSI Victoria) recently held a meeting of key industry leaders to look at ways of improving safety within the domestic concreting industry. CSI is currently working with the Victorian Volume Home Builders Safety Alliance to ensure that everyone involved in the task is contributing in a positive way towards compliance.

The Concrete Pumping Association of Australia through its National President has participated in these Victorian forums so as to keep the Association intouch with this Concrete Safety Initiative. As with any construction activity, it takes a team effort to create a safe working environment that we must all strive to achieve. Some of topics on the table at the moment are:

  • check lists that the site supervisors can use
  • safe work method statements
  • a common systematic approach to safe systems of work
  • awareness of significant issues
  • support from the Victorian Volume Builders

Anyone wishing to be involved, the CSI are more than happy to have you come along and participate. It is a team effort and CSI value any positive input that you may have. Further enquiries can be made directly to Paul Williams at Paulw@mahercorp.com.au or the new Chairperson Barbara on barbara@bapumps.com.au.

To assist builders and concrete pump operators, CSI has recently released the attached draft SWMS for truck mounted concrete pumping and checklist. Read more here
