Shotcrete Challenges

26-02-2016

Shotcreting plays an essential part in today's civil construction industry. It is an extremely versatile material that can be easily and rapidly applied to provide a cost-effective means of construction. The Concrete Institute of Australia - Victoria will be hosting a Technical evening Tuesday 15th March 2016 -- 5.30pm - 8pm at VicRoads Theatrette, 60 Denmark Street, Kew VIC 3101. A highlight of this event will demonstrate how sprayed concrete shear walls facilitated fast track of 44 level modularised building constructions.

The nature of today’s projects and future challenges demand that the boundaries of technical limitations are pushed back wherever they exist. To prevail over them, continuous advances in equipment design, product technologies, working processes and design engineering are required to expand horizons in civil construction and mining environments. Sprayed concrete (shotcrete) has been defined as a building material, as a way of placing concrete and it characterizes a traditional but likewise highly innovative technology. The enormous development of sprayed concrete, including material science and performance together with advances in spraying equipment technology, have made it the building material of choice for today’s demanding construction business. Projects that were impossible to realize have now become achievable. Subsurface structures can be placed where they are needed by providing appropriate excavation support, sealing and strengthening the ground where required.

Lewis Mitchell and Jake Mitchell managing Mitchcon’s pumping and spraying have hands on experience in concrete pumping and spraying will be sharing their valuable experience with their past and present ongoing projects including their recent experience with 323 Latrobe street project. Join with one of our Concrete Pumping Association of Australia members, Mitchcon at this technical evening in Melbourne. This interesting Melbourne event will uncover some innovative approaches with concrete pumping and spraying to overcome the challenges and hurdles of modern world construction.
