NHVR to process Special Purpose Vehicle permits on 25TH OF NOVEMBER
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and the Department of Transport and Main Roads in consultation with Queensland local councils commenced the planning for the return of heavy vehicle permit processing to the NHVR during 2019.
The processing of Special Purpose Vehicle permit applications for Queensland will transfer back from the Department of Transport and Main Roads to the NHVR from the 25 November 2019.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads will continue to process Class 1 Oversize Overmass (OSOM) permit applications on behalf of the NHVR.
Prior to submitting an application to the NHVR, please refer to the National Class 1 Special Purpose Vehicle Notice. If your vehicle can comply with the Notice, a permit application will not be required.
The NHVR has worked together with the Local Government Association Queensland and the Crane Industry Council Australia (CICA) to develop the new QLD Class 1 Crane Permit Scheme. The permit scheme provides permitted access to local council pre-approved networks.
To apply for a Special Purpose Vehicle permit from the 25 November 2019, operators will need to lodge applications via the NHVR Portal www.service.nhvr.gov.au
For additional information please download the QLD Class 1 - Industry Information Sheet.
