A National First For The Industry – National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR)
As part of the NHVR’s ongoing commitment to enhance and improve the services they provide to their customers. The CPAA are pleased to share that the NHVR will release the Heavy Vehicle National Network Map on the 20th of December.
The heavy vehicle industry and road managers will now be able to see national road network information all in one central location.
This new map supports improved heavy vehicle access efficiency and decision making by bringing together the state-based heavy vehicle networks and displaying them in the National Network Map.
The NHVR has worked side by side their jurisdictional partners in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and the Australian Capital Territory to transition their networks and achieve this import outcome.
Overall, the industry will benefit from several key features of the new National Network Map, Including:
- Providing the single authoritative map to enable the heavy vehicle industry to route their journeys on approved networks.
- Being able to view available networks across borders in one location (removing the need to go to multiple state websites)
- The ability to search by and view available networks for more than 1,000 heavy vehicle configurations, providing better visibility and fleet management decision making.
- Providing real time changes to road networks to ensure availability of the most accurate network access information.
Other benefits of this new National Network Map include an identifiable view of approved , conditional or restricted routes using a traffic light colour scheme and map layers that can be turned on and off to identify rest areas, height restrictions and road disruptions.
The new National Network Map will be available from the 20th of December on the NHVR website at https://maps.nhvr.gov.au through your NHVR portal account.
For further in formation regarding this topic , a series of webinars will be held to provide a walkthrough of how to use the map and answer any questions you might have.
